Earl Wenz Inc. and the Wenz family traces itself back to 1847 in Kutztown PA. with Philip Wenz. He had a full memorial manufacturing plant. His original operation in Kutztown, “Philip Wenz Marble and Granite Works”, was the largest stone working company in the region. It was a full plant for manufacturing hundreds of headstones, statues, mausoleums and civic memorials that still can be found in the Kutztown and surrounding areas today.
Eventually opening up a second shop in Kutztown, Philip and his team had a rather large part of Kutztown (From the intersection of what is now Wentz Street and Greenwich Street all the way down to what is now the intersection of Constitution Blvd and Main Street) dedicated to the cutting and carving of marble and granite.
In 1920, Philip’s son, William Wenz, moved the operation to Allentown PA, where they had an office in the center of town and a plant on the outskirts.
In 1955 William’s son, Earl Wenz, moved the operation to it’s current location in Breinigsville PA. Using the new space to put up a display of acres of monuments, the business continued to grow and expand.
Earl's son William, was President of the business from 1968 through 1992.
William's son Bill (the 5th Generation) has been president of the company from 1992 through to the present time. The 6th Generation, Phillip and Jacob are helping run the company today with the creation of family memorials, civic memorials, as well as mausoleums.
At this location we have gone through many changes and updates over the years. In 2004 we retooled the entire shop to make it one of the most advanced memorial production facilities in the area and we continue to update this shop yearly, with the newest and most advanced equipment. We are proud to say that there is no memorial too small or too large for us, from sandblasting a brick or rock memorial to a 60+ crypt mausoleum.
We are one of the very few memorialist in the area to do all of our work in house. From designing the memorial, to sandblasting and carving, to the final setting in the cemetery. We have built and set memorials and mausoleums from Rhode Island to California and Montana to Florida, and just about every state in between.
